What is the Global 5k?This 5k is global because people who love UCU and want to support student scholarships live all over the world and we won’t be able to join together in one place, so we want the 5k to come to you! We encourage you to facilitate smaller groups- your church, family, friends, etc., but if it’s just you, know that you are joined by people around the globe in spirit!
How do I 5k?This isn’t a race! You can walk, jog, hike, bike, paddle, rollerblade, drive, etc! We set 5 kilometers as a goal that is attainable to many, but if it’s not for you, you are free to make your own plan.
Where do my registration fees go?
100% of your registration fees go to the Omega Scholarship Fund, which supports students in their final semester (or even exams) to jump their final financial hurdles to complete their degrees and graduate.
How do I connect with others completing the 5k?We ask that you post on social media using the hashtags #UgandaPartnersGlobal5k and #IAmUCU so that we can all see who is participating (and where and how they are completing their 5k).
Do I have to complete my 5k on the scheduled day of the event?
If you are unavailable on the scheduled day of the Global 5k, feel free to complete it before, save your photos, and still post on the day of the Global 5k so you can still connect with others. Just like choosing 5k as a distance, having a date selected creates a goal and accountability, but if it doesn’t work for you, do what does.
What are the prize categories?
We slightly change the categories from time to time, but typically we include best group photo, best selfie taken during 5K, most creative method of transportation, and some fundraising prizes. The winners receive prize packages full of hand-selected items from Uganda!

Can I invite others to complete the 5k with me?
